Franco-Dominican singer Lena Dardelet joins forces with Dominican artist Inka to present “Ten Cuidao”, a vibrant and contemporary merengue that fuses infectious energy with cultural pride and a clear message of female empowerment.
Empowerment Through Cultural Expression
Drawing from her multicultural background—French heritage and Dominican soul—Lena Dardelet delivers a track that celebrates femininity in all its forms: quiet strength, sensuality, passion, and boldness. With modern production layered over traditional merengue roots, “Ten Cuidao” offers a fresh sonic experience while honoring the legacy of one of the Dominican Republic’s most iconic musical genres.
A Visually Symbolic Narrative
The music video, filmed in the iconic gallera of Callejón de la Loma in Cabarete, reclaims a traditionally masculine space and reimagines it as a stage for female power and presence. Directed and produced by Chelin Labs and Los Quimical Brothers, the video reframes the cockfight as a striking metaphor for feminine strength, sensuality, and resistance. Special thanks go to the Martínez family, who opened the doors of their location to make this powerful visual possible.
A Cross-Border Collaborative Effort
The project was born from a collaborative, transnational creative process. Part of the production took place in Miami during the all-female music camp “She Runs the Board”, an initiative led by ASCAPand Platoon. The track was then completed in Santo Domingo, with Joel Berrido handling co-production and mixing, Inka contributing as co-writer, and legendary percussionist Evaristo Moreno bringing his signature rhythmic touch.
