With the conviction that there are no eternal formulas in music, Eddy Herrera releases Novato Apostador, an album that reaffirms why his name remains relevant—not out of nostalgia or repetition, but through conscious evolution. This marks his 18th studio production, a conceptual work that breaks the mold from its title alone, taking his signature merengue sound into unexplored territories without losing the essence that has made him a central figure in the genre.
Despite his long track record, numerous awards, and decades-long career, Herrera sees himself as a novato apostador—a rookie gambler—someone who, rather than getting comfortable, continues to take creative risks. That spirit is the driving force behind this 13-track album, where symphonic arrangements—recorded by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Asunción, Paraguay—intertwine with meticulous production by renowned names such as Manuel Tejada, Junior Cabrera, Edwin García, Moisés Sánchez, Antonio González, and Juan Daniel Montero.
The first single, “Y Cómo Te Olvido,” surpassed three million views on YouTube, offering a glimpse into the album’s mission: melodic sophistication without commercial compromise. Other standout tracks include “Te vas de mí,” “Laadicta,” “Interesada,” “Tú me querías,” “Nada qué hacer,” “Así sí e’ bueno,” and the title track, “Novato Apostador.”
“As every year, it’s truly a pleasure to offer my people across Latin America a new album. This, the 18th of my career, includes new recording elements, such as string sections by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Asunción on two of the songs. I hope this album resonates with everyone and becomes a part of their lives,” shared Herrera.
Novato Apostador was released under the Intermusic SRL label, with executive production led by the artist himself. Songwriters include Martín De León, Enghel Mata, Giordano Morel, Kelvin Mejía, Gustavo Matheus, César David Castro, Lanny Pimentel, Delvi Cruz Landestoy, and Vicente Alberto Montaño Valdez.
The final sound was shaped by a top-tier technical team featuring Alla Leschhorn, Boris Milán, Antonio González, and Sarah Tejada on mixing, with Milán also handling mastering. Distribution is managed by Symphony Latino.
This is not an album created to follow trends or chase algorithmic validation. Novato Apostador is a statement from an artist who refuses to repeat himself, who avoids the predictable, and who chooses reinvention over nostalgia.
Eddy Herrera doesn’t gamble out of habit. He gambles because he still has so much to say.
