In a moving ceremony in the City of Miami, Amara La Negra renowned artist, entrepreneur, and Afro-Latina activist was honored with an Official Proclamation declaring October 9 as “Amara La Negra Day.” The recognition, presented by Commissioner Miguel Ángel Gabela alongside Mayor Francis Suárez, celebrates her extraordinary contributions to culture, community, and representation.

From her rise on Sábado Gigante to her success as an international artist and television personality, Amara La Negrahas become one of the most powerful voices in the fight for equality and Afro-Latina visibility. Through music, advocacy, and entrepreneurship, she has inspired countless people to embrace their heritage and identity with pride.
“Receiving this proclamation means so much to me not only as Amara La Negra, the artist, but as the little girl who grew up in Miami dreaming big,” said Amara during her acceptance speech. “This recognition represents my community, my culture, and everyone who has ever felt invisible. It’s a reminder that Afro-Latinas, immigrants, and dreamers like me do belong, and that we can make history from our roots.”
