Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist GIULIA BE returns with her new single “bye bye bahia”, the second chapter of her ambitious trilingual and audiovisual project, GIULIA BE. Released this Thursday, October 30, at 9 p.m. (BRT), the track marks the next phase of her vibrant new era, blending emotional storytelling with irresistible Latin rhythm.
A Story of Love, Loss, and Liberation
Written in 2021 alongside Cris Chil, who has previously worked with Kali Uchis, Anitta, and Selena Gomez, “bye bye bahia” was inspired by a personal experience that GIULIA transforms into art. The song revisits a romantic trip to Bahia with an ex-boyfriend who, months later, returned to the same hotel with someone else.
“He took me to Bahia on a very romantic trip,” GIULIA recalls. “Two months later, he showed up with someone else in the same place, at the same hotel where we had stayed. It was sad at the time, but that’s life! The song tells the whole story with all the gossip details,” she laughs.
The Sound: Latin Fusion with Global Soul
Produced by Caleb Calloway, known for his work with Bad Bunny and J Balvin, the single blends contemporary pop with Latin influences, including reggaeton, dancehall, and dembow. The result is a warm, energetic soundscape that reflects GIULIA’s emotional journey while keeping listeners moving to the beat.
GIULIA describes writing in Spanish as a joyful, collaborative experience:
“It’s the language I have the most fun working in because every session feels like a lesson. The vibe in the studio is always so easy, united, and festive especially when I’m writing with Cris!”
The Visual: Friendship Over Rivalry
The music video, directed by Olivia Mucida and creatively led by Lennyn Salinas, captures this new perspective on heartbreak. Rather than focusing on betrayal, it celebrates closure and empowerment, showing two women dancing together, symbolizing solidarity and the end of rivalry. It’s a playful, cinematic take on moving on with grace and confidence.
A Trilingual Artistic Vision
Following the English single “fool for love”, this Spanish track opens the second chapter of GIULIA’s trilingual project, which continues November 6 with “viciada”, representing the Portuguese phase.
Each song and video interconnects through subtle visual and emotional threads:
- English reflects GIULIA’s experiences between Brazil and the United States.
- Spanish explores intense emotion and passion.
- Portuguese represents her roots and nostalgia.
“These are songs I’ve been collecting over the years,” she explains. “Some I wrote nine years ago, others just four months ago. They’re fragments of deeply personal stories, not always about me, that reveal an inner abundance of perspectives and musical styles. That’s why I gave the project my own name: it’s the truest reflection of everything that happens inside my head every day.”
A Global Milestone for GIULIA BE
“bye bye bahia” also marks GIULIA’s first major release under Sony Music’s global division, a groundbreaking achievement for a Brazilian artist of her generation. With the support of industry leader Afo Verde, she enjoys full creative freedom to direct and license her own projects, a rare position that highlights her growing international influence.
Created alongside her brother Dany Marinho and a team of world-class producers who have collaborated with Rihanna, Lana Del Rey, Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, and Madonna, GIULIA BE stands as a celebration of language, rhythm, and emotional truth connecting audiences across Brazil, Latin America, the U.S., and Europe.
