Bilingual pop-funk trio DARUMAS turn on the jukebox and keep on dancing in a groovy new music video for their disco-pop shimmering track “Hollywood” — the latest single from their new album “DARUMAS+,” a groovy 15-track album that celebrates spontaneity, sensuality, and an unapologetic fusion of genres, plus 6.9 Million streams to prove for it. The “Hollywood” video bursts with bold energy, perfectly matching the track’s confident, forward-driving lyrics. Lines like “Please don’t let it drop, we’re just taking off” and “Like a Hollywood sign, we pop” capture the trio’s fearless ambition and amplify the song’s message of rising momentum and undeniable star power. It’s a glittering statement piece that cements DARUMAS as a rising force ready to take center stage.
The trio’s recent self-titled debut “DARUMAS+” is a “groovy Latin funk love letter” that infuses the Latin pop, funk and disco sound that Aldana Aguirre (bass, Argentina), Ceci Leon (vocals/guitar, Miami/Cuba), and Vedala Vilmond (vocals, Haiti/Chile) have become known for. The expanded album kicks off with “Puerta Abierta”, a soulful, bold, and joyfully song with purpose; and other highlights including the charismatically captivating, fiery groove on “Francotirador,” (which the band performed on stage at the Latin GRAMMYs); the bilingual bubblegum disco, empowerment anthem “Wanna Be”; and their most recent single, “Ex-Cusas” which offers a vibrant play on words, a reflective and witty take on failed relationships, wrapped in a funky R&B package that bursts with brass pops, beachy grooves, and energetic gang vocals.
In a little over one year, DARUMAS have taken their sound to new heights: securing their first Latin GRAMMY nomination and two Premio Lo Nuestro nominations, making show stopping performances on major festival stages like Outside Lands, Lollapalooza Argentina, Rock in Rio, and LAMC, as well as headlining UNSIN Festival in Miami. They also saw their debut single “DARUMA” catapult to #1 on Japan’s biggest radio station, J-WAVE. The track delivers a message of hope, resilience and love, in tandem with the band name, which introduced the inspiration from the Japanese luck charm. True to their name, DARUMAS aims to imbue their music with the same spirit of resilience and positivity that the “Daruma” embodies.
Most recently, DARUMAS participated in the 2025 GRAMMY Camp hosted at the GRAMMY Museum’s expanded education program at Art House Studios in Miami to mentor the next generation of artists. The band performed their new single “Hollywood” and shared insights from their own journey.
Rooted in global sounds and cultural diversity, DARUMAS create a multilingual, multi-genre sound that reflects their mission: to open doors, break molds, and groove their way through joy and resistance. The mosaic of their cultural influences and musical styles promises a musical experience like no other. In their own words: “Darumas is a band formed by three amazing girls,”Vedala emphasizes. “We are three musicians from different parts of the world” Aldana shares “…and three very different backgrounds” Ceci continues, “that are all inspired by similar music, and trying to create something new with one another.”
