Elvis Crespo, one of the most iconic voices in tropical music, is experiencing a powerful new chapter in his legendary career. On the heels of his latest album Poeta Herío, Crespo has been announced as a finalist at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards in the category Tropical Artist of the Year, Solo. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 23, at 8:00 p.m. EST at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida, and will be broadcast live on Telemundo.

A Billboard Comeback with “Nuestra Canción”

In 2025, Crespo returned to the Billboard charts for the first time in over five years with a fresh version of “Nuestra Canción” alongside Jerry Rivera. The single debuted at No. 10 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart and has gone viral across social media, proving Crespo’s enduring connection with audiences.

Upon receiving the nomination, Crespo shared:

“I was in the studio recording a new track when I got the news. First, I thank God for the gift of being an entertainer, and I thank all the people who have made this possible. I have a wonderful team. Thanks to Billboard and Telemundo for believing in me and for allowing me to celebrate that, after so many years, I’m still embraced by audiences. That makes me feel fortunate, blessed, and definitely grateful because they continue to support what I do.”

Poeta Herío: A Bold and Personal Musical Chapter

Released through Puntería Records/Sony Music Latin, Crespo’s latest album Poeta Herío marks a rebirth for the merengue star. Blending themes of heartbreak and healing with vibrant tropical rhythms, the album has reached massive audiences across the U.S., Latin America, Spain, and the Caribbean.

The project unites generations of artists with standout collaborations featuring Arcángel, Ivy Queen, Jerry Rivera, Víctor Manuelle, Toño Rosario, Luck-Ra, La Insuperable, Ebenezer Guerra, El Blachy, Fariana, and Oscarito. Together, they deliver a modern yet timeless vision of the tropical sound Crespo has pioneered for more than two decades.

Bodega Tour 2025: El Barrio Canta

Beyond the studio, Crespo is innovating how he connects with fans. His Bodega Tour 2025: El Barrio Canta brings music directly to Latino communities across the U.S. and the Caribbean. Inspired by Dominican colmados where he filmed videos for “Luna Llena”“Me Mataron”, and “Borrón y Cuenta Nueva”, the tour features free surprise performances in iconic bodegas and neighborhood spaces.

The tour kicked off in Puerto Rico and has already made stops in New York, New Jersey, Miami, and Philadelphia, with upcoming dates in Chicago, Connecticut, and Los Angeles. Each show is announced just days in advance through Crespo’s social media and press outlets, keeping fans engaged with the excitement of surprise.

Elvis Crespo: Still Leading the Tropical Sound

With a new album, a viral charting single, a groundbreaking community tour, and a Billboard nomination, Elvis Crespo is proving once again why he remains a defining figure in Latin music. His ability to evolve while staying true to the essence of tropical rhythms continues to inspire generations across the globe.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards 2025 airs live on Telemundo, October 23 at 8pm/7c.
