After captivating listeners with the raw introspection of “Soy”, Martina La Peligrosa returns with an equally visceral yet even more direct offering. “No Le Copio A Nadie” is a fiercely liberating track that honors femininity from multiple angles —ancestral, bodily, communal, and queer— with an energy that pulses with rhythm and conviction.

Produced by Jairo Varón, the song is built on a powerful foundation of son de negro, puya, and mapalé, three Afro-Caribbean rhythms deeply tied to heritage, movement, and resistance. “It’s a song that pays tribute to our ancestors, to all the women who fought and forged a path so that today we can do things they might never have imagined,” Martina says. “It also honors the freedom to live comfortably in who we are, without fear of judgment or of what people might say.”

The video, produced by El French, takes that symbolism even further. It stars Camilo Ochoa, a member of the LGBTQI+ community and a key figure in the visual narrative of the piece. His presence is neither incidental nor ornamental — it’s a deliberate artistic choice loaded with meaning.

Camilo has been part of my fan club in Valledupar since he was a child. I met him when he was just starting to explore the world, and today I admire him deeply,” Martina shares. “He’s someone who embraces his femininity with pride, who has built a life with courage, and who fiercely and intelligently defends his identity. I wanted to celebrate that kind of freedom in the video — the freedom of those who dare to be. Because queer identity is also part of the femininity I want to honor.

More than a song, “No Le Copio A Nadie” is a collective statement. It is the voice of an artist who looks back to honor those who came before, and who also looks to the margins to embrace other expressions of being. It is a declaration that challenges those who expect conformity and electrifies those who seek truth.

This song makes me proud of the woman I’ve become,” she says. “It celebrates the freedom to sing, to dance, to live from a place of joy. I applaud anyone who has the courage to be who they are. I think that’s the bravest thing anyone can do today: to stand in your truth, no matter what others may think.
