A year after DARUMAS (@DarumasBand) burst onto the alt-music scene, and released their debut pop-funk project which garnered the band a first Latin GRAMMY nomination, group members Aldana, Ceci and Vedala deliver more music today, releasing “DARUMAS+”. Continuing the “groovy Latin funk love letter,” DARUMAS+ adds 8-new songs to the self-titled debut album which honors the band’s songwriting and musical evolution.
The upgraded album arrives alongside a brand new single “Ex-Cusas“; a vibrant play on words that’s a reflective and witty take on failed relationships. We learn not to linger in the heartbreaks. DARUMAS adopts an empowering attitude, claiming no exes, only “ex-cuses,” and confesses to using new flings to forget old wounds. Wrapped in a funky R&B package that bursts with brass pops, beachy grooves, and energetic gang vocals – the music video shows the band performing in front of a trippy green screen awash in stars, warped close-ups, and surreal, shifting patterns.
The newest 8 tracks introduce “DARUMAS+”. The expanded album opens with the infectious fusion of Latin pop, funk and disco that DARUMAS have become known for. It kicks off with their recent single, “Puerta Abierta”, a soulful, bold, and joyfully unpredictable song with purpose. From the disco-pop shimmer of “Hollywood” to the fiery groove and charismatically captivating “Francotirador,” (which the band performed on stage at the Latin GRAMMYs last year), the new tracks celebrate spontaneity, sensuality, and the unapologetic fusion of genres that defines DARUMAS’ style. Whether it’s the bilingual bubblegum disco, empowerment anthem “Wanna Be” or the vulnerable confessions of “No La Llames,” the trio brings unmatched chemistry, rhythmic precision, and heart.

Since their May 2024 debut, DARUMAS has taken their sound to new heights: Headlining UNSIN Festival in Miami, a show stopping performance at Lollapalooza Argentina, appearing at the exclusive Mujeres Latinas en la Música industry cocktail, a celebrated run of festival appearances including Outside Lands, Rock in Rio, and LAMC, two Premio Lo Nuestro nominations (“Pop/Rock Group of the Year” and “Pop/Rock/Urban Female New Artist of the Year”).
Rooted in global sounds and cultural diversity, DARUMAS is composed of Aldana Aguirre (bass, Argentina), Ceci Leon (vocals/guitar, Miami/Cuba), and Vedala Vilmond (vocals, Haiti/Chile). Together, they create a multilingual, multi-genre sound that reflects their mission: to open doors, break molds, and groove their way through joy and resistance. The mosaic of their cultural influences and musical styles promises a musical experience like no other. In their own words: “Darumas is a band formed by three amazing girls,” Vedala emphasizes. “We are three musicians from different parts of the world” Aldana shares “…and three very different backgrounds” Ceci continues, “that are all inspired by similar music, and trying to create something new with one another.”
