Rosalía Celebrates Major Career Milestone With Billboard Hall of Fame Honor

LaMezcla Staff

Rosalía reached another defining milestone in her career at the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards, receiving the prestigious Billboard Hall of Fame Award in recognition of her artistic innovation, international influence, and ability to challenge musical boundaries. The Spanish singer-songwriter accepted the honor on Thursday, October 22, at Miami’s James L. Knight Center, where Dominican music legend Juan Luis Guerra presented her with the award. The moment brought together two generations of influential artists whose work has helped expand the possibilities of Spanish-language music. The Billboard Hall of Fame Award recognizes artists whose contributions extend beyond commercial success, celebrating cultural influence, creative vision, and the ability to connect audiences across genres and borders. For Rosalía, the recognition arrives during a period of continued artistic evolution, following the release of her ambitious 2025 album LUX.  A Recognition Rooted in Latin Music History During her acceptance speech, Rosalía paid tribute to Juan Luis Guerra and acknowledged the generations of musicians who helped shape her artistic identity. She recognized influential figures including Celia Cruz, Rocío Dúrcal, Vicente Fernández, and Daddy Yankee, emphasizing that her creative journey would not have been possible without the artists who came before her. The singer also expressed gratitude toward Latin America for embracing her music and providing years of artistic inspiration. Her acknowledgment carried particular significance given her position as a Spanish artist whose career has been deeply connected to Latin American musical traditions, audiences, and collaborators. Rather than treating the award solely as an individual accomplishment, Rosalía used the moment to recognize the cultural foundations behind her success.  From El Mal Querer to MOTOMAMI and LUX Rosalía’s career has been defined by a willingness to rethink musical conventions rather than remain within a single genre. Her 2018 album El Mal Querer established her as a distinctive creative force, incorporating flamenco influences into contemporary production while building a visual and conceptual identity that extended beyond traditional pop expectations. With MOTOMAMI in 2022, she moved further into experimental territory, incorporating reggaeton, electronic music, alternative pop, and unconventional production techniques. The project debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Pop Albums chart and spent 25 weeks at the summit between 2022 and 2023. It also introduced Rosalía to the all-genre Billboard 200, where the album debuted inside the top 40. Her 2025 album LUX marked another transformation, expanding her musical approach through orchestral arrangements, classical influences, and multilingual songwriting. The album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, marking her first top 10 appearance on the chart, while also reaching No. 1 across five Billboard album rankings, including Top Latin Albums and Top Latin Pop Albums.  What distinguishes Rosalía’s trajectory is not simply her movement between musical styles, but her ability to make reinvention a central part of her identity. Where many artists build international careers by refining a recognizable commercial formula, Rosalía has repeatedly changed the musical framework surrounding her work. Her transition from flamenco-inspired storytelling to the experimental production of MOTOMAMI and the expansive compositions of LUX illustrates a career built around creative risk. That approach has helped position her within a broader generation of Spanish-language artists challenging traditional distinctions between Latin pop, alternative music, and global mainstream audiences. Fuerza Regida celebrates its eight wins and Billboard Vanguard Award at the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami.

Fuerza Regida Celebrates Eight Billboard Latin Music Awards and Historic Vanguard Recognition

LaMezcla Staff

Fuerza Regida emerged as the biggest winner of the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards, taking home eight awards, including the prestigious Billboard Vanguard Award, in a defining moment for the Mexican-American group’s career and the continued global rise of música mexicana. Held October 22 at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, the ceremony saw Fuerza Regida outperform some of Latin music’s biggest names in total awards. Bad Bunny followed with seven wins, while Karol G, Peso Pluma and Romeo Santos each earned four. The results placed regional Mexican music at the center of one of the industry’s most prominent awards ceremonies.  For Fuerza Regida, the evening represented more than a collection of trophies. It reflected the group’s evolution from a Southern California regional Mexican act into a leading force in contemporary Latin music, with a sound and identity that increasingly extend beyond traditional genre boundaries. “Marlboro Rojo” Leads Fuerza Regida’s Winning Night The group’s success was driven in large part by “Marlboro Rojo,” which earned four awards across major song categories. The track won Hot Latin Song of the Year, Streaming Song of the Year, Global 200 Latin Song of the Year and Regional Mexican Song of the Year. Fuerza Regida also secured three artist-category victories: Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; and Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. Together with the Billboard Vanguard Award, those honors brought the group’s total to eight.  The range of categories is particularly significant. Winning both regional Mexican and broader Latin music honors demonstrates how the group’s reach now extends beyond the audience traditionally associated with its genre. Rather than treating regional Mexican music as a separate commercial lane, these results illustrate how the genre competes directly with Latin pop, reggaeton and other dominant sounds across the wider Latin market. Billboard Vanguard Award Recognizes a Decade of Evolution One of the evening’s defining moments came when Fuerza Regida received the Billboard Vanguard Award, recognizing its creative innovation and contributions to expanding Mexican music’s global reach. Led by frontman Jesús Ortiz Paz, known as JOP, Fuerza Regida has built its identity around corridos, contemporary street culture and a willingness to experiment with musical influences beyond traditional regional Mexican arrangements. That approach has helped position the group within a broader generation of artists reshaping the expectations surrounding música mexicana. During the ceremony, Ortiz Paz reflected on the group’s decade-long journey, thanking its fans, family, team and Street Mob Records for their support.  The Vanguard recognition is especially meaningful because it acknowledges something different from chart performance. While the group’s competitive awards reflect measurable success, the honorary distinction recognizes its role in changing the creative direction and perception of Mexican music. For an act whose image and musical identity have frequently challenged conventional expectations, that distinction marks an important step in its transition from genre disruptor to established industry leader. What Fuerza Regida’s Success Means for Música Mexicana Fuerza Regida’s Billboard victories arrive during a period when música mexicana has become an increasingly influential part of the international Latin music landscape. Artists such as Peso Pluma, Tito Double P and Fuerza Regida have helped introduce contemporary Mexican sounds to audiences that also consume reggaeton, Latin trap and mainstream pop. The 2026 awards results offered another indication of that shift. Peso Pluma and Tito Double P shared major album honors for DINASTÍA, while Fuerza Regida’s “Marlboro Rojo” competed successfully across categories that extend beyond regional Mexican music.  […]
