MAKACO EL CEREBRO AND FARRUKO SHAKE UP MERENGUE/MAMBO WITH “ABATIDO”
Merengue/mambo receives a new musical gem: “Abatido,” the latest single from Dominican artist Makaco el Cerebro, in collaboration with Puerto Rican icon Farruko, is now available on all digital platforms and is playing strongly on international radio. With a fresh, infectious musical approach and positive message, “Abatido” marks a turning point for Makaco el Cerebro, positioning him as the Dominican Republic’s new musical sensation for the world.
“Abatido” is a song that fuses modern mambo/merengue with a powerful message of faith, resilience, and personal growth. With lyrics written by Makaco el Cerebro himself and produced by his trusted arranger, Richard de la Oz, this track moves away from explicit content and strives to uplift the listener’s spirit with rhythm and heart.
“This song represents everything I’ve been through, but above all, what I’ve overcome. The collaboration with Farruko was born after an approach in 2018 by Makaco el Cerebro, who persisted in his desire to collaborate with the Puerto Rican artist. It wasn’t until 2021, thanks to the intervention of professional makeup artist Luz Nelia Clemente, that Farruko listened more deeply to Makaco el Cerebro’s project and was impressed by his talent and vision. From that connection, Farruko first recorded the song “No Entienden”—also composed by Makaco el Cerebro—and later, the long-awaited musical union in “Abatido.”
The music video for “Abatido,” created by the talented Honduran director Smalldy, released just a week ago, is already approaching one million views on YouTube, consolidating its viral success and making it clear that music with a purpose can also dominate digital platforms.
Currently, Makaco el Cerebro is on a promotional tour throughout Latin and Central American countries, bringing his message and rhythm to new audiences, with a solid support base in Puerto Rico, a land that has welcomed him as one of its own.
