In a year where Grupo Niche’s legacy has resonated louder than ever, the Colombian powerhouse adds another milestone to their historic journey: winning Best Tropical/Salsa/Cumbia Artist at the 2025 Premios Nuestra Tierra, held last night in Bogotá, Colombia.

Founded in 2007, Premios Nuestra Tierra is the leading platform celebrating Colombian music — an annual tribute to those who elevate the national sound through excellence, impact, and lasting influence. If there’s one group that has mastered all three over more than four decades, it’s undoubtedly Grupo Niche.

In addition to receiving the award, Grupo Niche had the honor of taking the stage alongside renowned producer Sergio George to present  an award to Carlos Vives — one of the evening’s most emotional and celebrated moments. Two Latin music powerhouses paying tribute to another — a symbolic act that bridged generations and genres under a shared national pride.

The Best Artist award comes amid the momentum of their Legacy Tour, an international celebration of the group’s 45-year history and a tribute to the vision of their founder, maestro Jairo Varela. The tour has already made an impact on world-class stages, including a historic, sold-out debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall, where salsa from Cali resonated within walls traditionally reserved for classical symphonies.

This recognition also aligns with a phase of artistic reinvention. In March, Grupo Niche released Clásicos 1.0, a project that reimagines their most iconic songs — including “Entrega,” “Busca por Dentro,” and “Robando Sueños” — with new arrangements while preserving the essence that has made them pillars of Latin music.

Winning at Premios Nuestra Tierra is more than just a trophy: it’s a national standing ovation for a group that has remained relevant without betraying its roots, continues to stir emotions with every note, and today stands as one of Colombia’s greatest ambassadors to the world.

Grupo Niche doesn’t just look back. They look ahead. And with this new award, they confirm what so many already know: salsa isn’t the past — it’s the present. And its beat — steady, brilliant, unstoppable — continues to set the rhythm for generations to come.
