DARUMAS INDUCE FUNK-POP EUPHORIA ON A BRAND NEW SINGLE “PUERTA ABIERTA”
Latin GRAMMY-nominated powerhouse trio DARUMAS (@DarumasBand) presents a new single “Puerta Abierta.” It’s an infectious fusion of Latin pop, funk and disco, featuring a hypnotic mix of syncopated drum grooves, bouncy bass licks, and disco-infused string flares. With “Puerta Abierta,” DARUMAS open the door and welcome us into their world of groovy, unadulterated joy. In their own words: “Puerta Abierta is a fun, sensual, R&B-influenced track….” Vedala mentions. “And it’s about an ordinary day in our lives,” Aldana continues. “It has a touch of funk, too. It’s a very DARUMAS song that has become one of our favorites,” shares Ceci.
Most recently, DARUMAS celebrated the anniversary of their first Premio Lo Nuestro red carpet, this time as 2x nominees in the categories of “Pop/Rock Group of the Year” & “Pop/Rock/Urban Female New Artist of The Year.” These accolades follow the success of DARUMAS’ recent releases: the charismatically captivating “Francotirador” and the bubblegum disco “Wanna Be”, which explores the desire for personal freedom and the push-pull tension in relationships. On “Puerta Abierta,” however, the band focuses less on introspection and more on joy; it’s a vibrant late-night tune that chases the thrill of spontaneity. Beginning with a stripped-back drum groove, the track quickly explodes into a stunning array of funky guitars, soulful vocals, and sweeping orchestral arrangements, showcasing their maximalist compositional abilities and tight chemistry.
For fans in South America, DARUMAS will perform at Lollapalooza Argentina next week on March 21st. This follows their North American festival debut at Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco, and appearances at Rock in Rio in Brazil, alongside a multi-date supporting slot for superstar Emilia. The band performed Rolling Stone’s Future of Music’ showcase in Mexico and last summer, also performed at LAMC.

Their music explodes with upbeat bops crafted perfectly for the live music stage, blending sounds from across their diverse musical roots and backgrounds; including the pop and disco track “Mago,” reggae-infused “La Llamada,” and as infectious and funky as the rest, their debut single “Daruma,” which introduced the Japanese inspiration behind the DARUMAS band name: a good luck charm that symbolizes perseverance and wish fulfillment. True to their stage name, DARUMAS aims to imbue their music with the same spirit of resilience and positivity that the Daruma embodies.
DARUMAS celebrates global musicianship – bringing together Aldana, a sought-after bassist from Argentina, who has shared the global stage with acts like Karol G, Luis Fonsi and Fonseca; Ceci, a vocalist from Miami with Cuban roots and a penchant for R&B, also captivates audiences with her electrifying guitar skills, seamlessly blending soulful melodies with fiery riffs; and Vedala, the mesmerizing voice of the group, hailing from Haiti and living in Chile. The mosaic of their cultural influences and musical styles promises a musical experience like no other. In their own words: “Darumas is a band formed by three amazing girls,” Vedala emphasizes. “We are three musicians from different parts of the world” Aldana shares “…and three very different backgrounds” Ceci continues, “that are all inspired by similar music, and trying to create something new with one another.”
