The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is excited to welcome Colombian singer, songwriter, and author Carlos Vives, who, alongside his band “La Provincia,” will perform a heartfelt concert for our speakers and participants at the Oslo Freedom Forum (OFF) this June.

Carlos Vives is widely recognized as one of Colombia’s most iconic artists and holds a prominent position in Latin music. With an impressive record of over twenty million records sold worldwide, he is hailed as a trailblazer in Hispanic pop music. Notably, he achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first Colombian artist to win a prestigious GRAMMY Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in the United States. Additionally, he has garnered 18 Latin GRAMMY Awards from the esteemed Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Beyond his musical contributions, he stands out as a passionate advocate for social causes. As founder of Tras La Perla Initiative, a non-profit organization, he actively supports the development of culture, identity, and freedom in the Colombian Caribbean region.

“It will be my honor to sing before the human rights defenders and freedom-loving people who gather every year at the Oslo Freedom Forum,” Vives said. “My music speaks of my country, Colombia, and of my hometown, Santa Marta. These are the places I love, so I work every day to make them better and fairer places for everyone. I can’t wait to share my music with all of you in Oslo.”

Vives promises to deliver a captivating performance, lending his unique, impassioned voice to the cause of freedom and human rights. The Carlos Vives concert at OFF is made possible thanks to the generosity of theReynolds Foundation and DemoLab. Register today for the Oslo Freedom Forum, taking place June 3-5 in Oslo, Norway, to witness it yourself!
